The Suzy Project is a non-profit organization that aims to spread holiday cheer and needed financial support to Orange County's less fortunate. Our mission is to "Make the World a Better Place, One Random Act of Kindness at a Time"
It was about 4:00 pm at a Starbucks on December 22, 2012. It was about a week after the Sandy Hook Elementary Shooting in Newtown, CT., and my life was about to be changed forever. I overheard a woman talking about how her daughter had a bag stolen with all her baby supplies, At this point I remember saying
“This is why I have no faith in humanity anymore”
Just as I was saying this to myself, a woman approached me, introduced herself as Suzy (who is the namesake of this project) and handed me $20.00. As I tried to refuse, she said that the Lord told her to. She wished me a Merry Christmas, and went on her way before I could thank her, leaving me speechless.
I embarked upon a religious journey that led me to a local organization who helped needy motel families in Anaheim. From there, I was able to deliver 40 $5 Dollar Tree Gift Cards to needy families, as that $20 turned into $200 just from retelling this to family and friends.
What We Do
Inspired by what happened Christmas 2012, I felt compelled to do something bigger.
Except this time, I wanted to do something that was bigger.
Since our first Mass Random Act of Kindness Day in December 2013, we've been committed to doing charitable acts for people. The one prerequisite? The recipient isn't expecting it.
We are not trying to convert people to Christianity. We want to convert people, however, to the power of random acts of kindness.
Our goal is to share the power of a random act of kindness or how big of a difference it will make.
Click either Donate or Volunteer to learn more about how you can make a difference in someone's life through an unexpected random act of kindness.
